Why I’m Running
I am inspired by the work that the St. Louis Park School District is advancing towards racial equity, fostering authentic community engagement, and developing diverse curriculums that engage all students.
My own public education experience oftentimes felt constricted to the test score. While I was instilled with a passion for high test scores when I graduated, my true passions and talents were still untapped. I lacked imagination for what I could do with my life. Most importantly, I lacked critical knowledge to understand ongoing inequitable systems. Public education has an obligation to ensure students become more than great test takers, but also engaged citizens and effective leaders.
The St. Louis Park School District is building a model for the future of public education that our community can take pride in. I want to ensure it has the tools, resources, and support to follow through on this vision.
I’m running for school board because I believe students should feel connected to their curriculum, engaged with their community, and empowered to shape their world.
